Privacy, Bench Notes
What lands on the server
Every web server keeps logs; mine is no exception. Standard entries record the IP address that requested a page, the time, the URL, the referring page and the browser string. That is plumbing, not profiling; I read them when something breaks and otherwise leave them alone. They are not matched against anything else.
What you type here
If you use the comment form, the name, address and text you submit are stored so the comment can appear and so I can answer it. Nothing else is captured from that form. I do not run analytics scripts on this site; no visitor counters, no heat maps, no third party tag managers. If that ever changes I will say so on this page before the script goes live, not after.
Cookies
Only what the site needs to function, principally remembering a comment session so you are not asked to retype things. No advertising cookies, no cross site tracking cookies, no fingerprinting. Clear them in your browser whenever you like; the site will not mind.
Who never sees your data
Nobody buys it. I do not sell, rent or trade visitor data, and I do not hand it to marketing lists, data brokers or advertising networks. If a legal request arrives I will say so here unless I am barred from doing it. That is the whole policy; there is no hidden clause about partners.
Getting your data removed
Write to me through the contact page on this site and ask. If you want a comment deleted, say which post and roughly when it went up; I can find it and remove it, text and stored details both. If you want server log entries tied to your address purged, ask; logs rotate on their own schedule anyway. I answer these myself, so allow a few days; the bench comes first but the request will not be ignored. If something here is unclear, the same contact page reaches me, and I would rather answer a question directly than have you guess at what the logs contain.
